Day Six. Reflections on the Island of Samos

Day Six. Reflections on the Island of Samos

There is a special feeling when you come back home. And Samos has now become my true home — a place where friends welcome me, where people smile and greet each other. I have grown to love this island. For the yacht Ganesh, it is also a long-term home port.

Over five days, we covered a total of 152 nautical miles. Unhurried and relaxed, sailing at an easy, almost leisurely pace. About eight of those hours were sailed after sunset or before dawn, mostly due to changing winds at our anchorages.

Hello, Samos! Hello to the delicious local wine, familiar little tavernas, and Greek songs played by friends on bouzouki and guitar.

Samos is, without doubt, the most beautiful island on our route. It has everything: the sea, ruins of ancient history, and a medieval castle. One of the oldest tunnels in the world, which we visited, became the final destination of our journey.

A farewell dinner. Until we meet again. My British friend is flying home, while I stay behind — waiting for new guests, ready to set sail once more along this and other routes. The next goal: to reach Rhodes?..
